माँ दुर्गा के छठे रूप को माँ कात्यायनी के नाम से पूजा जाता है. महर्षि कात्यायन की कठिन तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर उनकी इच्छानुसार उनके यहां पुत्री के रूप में पैदा हुई थीं. महर्षि कात्यायन ने इनका पालन-पोषण किया तथा महर्षि कात्यायन की पुत्री और उन्हीं के द्वारा सर्वप्रथम पूजे जाने के कारण देवी दुर्गा को कात्यायनी कहा गया.
देवी कात्यायनी अमोद्य फलदायिनी हैं इनकी पूजा अर्चना द्वारा सभी संकटों का नाश होता है, माँ कात्यायनी दानवों तथा पापियों का नाश करने वाली हैं. देवी कात्यायनी जी के पूजन से भक्त के भीतर अद्भुत शक्ति का संचार होता है. इस दिन साधक का मन ‘आज्ञा चक्र’ में स्थित रहता है. योग साधना में इस आज्ञा चक्र का अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है. साधक का मन आज्ञा चक्र में स्थित होने पर उसे सहजभाव से मां कात्यायनी के दर्शन प्राप्त होते हैं. साधक इस लोक में रहते हुए अलौकिक तेज से युक्त रहता है.

माँ कात्यायनी का स्वरूप अत्यन्त दिव्य और स्वर्ण के समान चमकीला है. यह अपनी प्रिय सवारी सिंह पर विराजमान रहती हैं. इनकी चार भुजायें भक्तों को वरदान देती हैं, इनका एक हाथ अभय मुद्रा में है, तो दूसरा हाथ वरदमुद्रा में है अन्य हाथों में तलवार तथा कमल का फूल है.

Meaning -

चन्द्र को उज्जवल करने वाली. सिंह के वाहन वाली , दानव का नाश करने वाली कात्यायनी देवी को प्रणाम !!

Explanation-

The origins of Katyayani goddess are closely linked to bloodline of the sage KAT who beget the saint Katya as his son. Eventually famous saint katyayan was born in this line. It was his desire that goddess be born in his house as his daughter. The world meanwhile was reeling under tyrannies of demon mahishasur. The goddess appealed by the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva born on 4th Navratra. Goddess accepted the ritual worship of katayayan rishi for 3days and on the tenth day Durga slew the demon Mahishasur. Goddess was born in Katayan's house so she adopted the name Katyayani.

Katyayani devi is depicted as a four armed goddess astride a lion. She holds a sword in one hand, a lotus in another, and remaining 2 hands are composed in mudras of blessing and the mudra of fearlessness, the blessing extended to all of katyayani's devotees.

As a potent force and facet of female energy, Katyayani claims as her own the Ajna or Agya Chakra. Symbolized by a lotus with 2 petals, this chakra is also known as third eye chakra.

पंचम स्वरुप स्कन्दमाता Fifth Form of Goddess- Skand Mata Stuti Mantra

सिंहासनगता नित्यं पद्माश्रितकरद्वया।

शुभदास्तु सदा देवी स्कन्दमाता यशस्विनी॥

भगवती दुर्गा के पाँचवें स्वरूप को स्कन्दमाता के रुप में माना जाता है। भगवान स्कन्द अर्थात् कार्तिकेय की माता होने के कारण इन्हें स्कन्द माता कहते हैं। स्कन्दमातृस्वरुपिणी देवी की चार भुजाएँ हैं। ये दाहिनी तरफ़ की ऊपर वाली भुजा से भगवान स्कन्द को गोद में पकड़े हुए हैं। बायीं तरफ़ की ऊपर वाली भुजा वरमुद्रा में तथा नीचे वाली भुजा जो ऊपर की ओर उठी है। उसमें भी कमल-पुष्प ली हुई हैं। ये कमल के आसन पर विराजमान रहती हैं। इसी कारण इन्हें पद्मासना देवी भी कहा जाता है। सिंह भी इनका वाहन है। नवरात्रे - पूजन के पाँचवे दिन इन्ही माता की उपासना की जाती है। स्कन्द माता की उपासना से बालरुप स्कन्द भगवान की उपासना स्वयं हो जाती है।
माँ स्कन्द माता की उपासना से उपासक की समस्त इच्छाएँ पूर्ण हो जाती हैं।

Singashangata Nityam PadmashritKardwaya !

Shubhdaastu Sada Devi SkandMata Yashashwini !!

Meaning - नित्य सिंह के आसन पर विराजमान, दो हाथो में कमल के पुष्प धारण करने वाली, यशश्विनी देवी स्कन्दमाता सदा शुभ फल प्रदान करो !!

Explanation-

Astride a Lion while holding the infant, Skanda, in her arms, the four-armed goddess is also known as Pasmasana Devi !

Skandmata* is revered for having produced such a remarkable son and worshiped as the mother figure par excellence. she does not wield a weapon and holds instead 2 lotuses in her 2 upper hands.As a potent force and facet of the female energy, Skandmata claims as her own the Vishuddhi Chakra.
Symbolized by a lotus with 16 petals, this Chakra is also known as the throat Chakra that symbolizes creativity and communications.
